Position Purpose
- Working in the printing shop, the Assistant Supervisor is hands-on while on the shop floor throughout their shift providing guidance, observing press operator performance, signing off on jobs, ensures safe practices and quality inspections are being completed.
- Effectively collaborates with Manufacturing Leadership and is a team player. Oversees the 1st shift daily functions supervising staffing ensuring work standards are met for compliance and overall customer experience. Has working experience in a print shop, understands flexographic press printing, familiarity with silkscreen printing and various ink types. Leads by example with a can-do leadership style while assisting and developing employees to be successful. Can step in and operate various printing presses as required. Ability to be flexible with work schedule and work overtime as needed.
2. Essential Functions & Principal Accountabilities
- Is consistent with supervision style, meets deadlines including assigned tasks. Champions change and building a team culture where all can thrive.
- Assists with managing employee performance and metrics holding oneself and others accountable for their actions. Good employee follow-up practices a must.
- Reviews and is aware of current market standards and new technology.
- Knowledge with Mark Andy, Nilpeter and Heidelberg flexographic presses
- Knowledge of Offset printing
- Basic Understanding Pre-Press Art
- Reviews daily production schedule to meet Customer SLA.
- Coordinate efficient running of all jobs on manufacturing presses and equipment.
- Problem solving, priorities changing quickly
- Mechanically inclined thinker is helpful
- Assists with employee training, performance reviews, recognition programs, and disciplinary actions as appropriate.
- Takes on additional tasks including management of supplies, dies, other shop needs
- Approve or reject job runs based upon quality standards. Promotes company Quality Standards and Awareness with all employees. ISO 9001 knowledge helpful.
- Complete required production quality inspections
- Leads safety initiatives
- Assist with NCP Process
- Reporting functionality presenting in usable format.
- Be a strong internal advocate with internal company departments
- Approve lay outs & estimates.
- Create lay outs & job specifications.
- Good understanding of raw materials, Ink, other
- Assists with company ink and raw material inventories as needed.
- Attends required meetings.
- Leads daily huddle meetings.
- Keep work area neat & clean.

5. Education/Training/Experience
- High School Diploma
- 3-5 years Flexographic Operator experience in a print shop
- 3-5 years Management or Supervisory training/experience
- Printing technology training or experience
- Mechanical technology training or experience preferred.
- Forklift Experience
- MS Office preferred, Windows, Word, Excel & Access
- Experience with ERP systems (IE. MS 365 Business Central, MS Dynamics Navision, Oracle, SAP)
- Good keyboarding skills
- RF Scanning
7. Essential Physical Demands
- Lift and/or move materials up to 35lbs.
- Pushing, pulling and/or carrying up to 35lbs
- Able to stand and walk for long periods at a time
